Bitchin' Rides: Road to the Ridler
The pinnacle of the custom car world is the Don Ridler Award, given out every year at the Detroit Autorama. Dave Kindig has always had a Ridler-sized itch he needed to scratch, and has finally found the right client and idea to make it a reality.

Dave and the crew start their all-aluminum Ridler build by creating a fiberglass buck. Then Dave realizes there may be a problem with the roof.
2. Aluminum, Aluminum and More Aluminum
The fabrication process begins, and the team begins to see how difficult building a car out of aluminum by hand will be.
3. Too Late to Turn Back Now
The team starts assembling panels into the shape of a car. When the chassis is done, two wild shapes are melded together for the first and last time.
4. Come Together, Right Now ...
The team passes a huge milestone, as the body and chassis are merged with mock-ups of the other major elements of the car.
5. One Chance for a First Impression
Dave agonizes over the color choice for the Ridler build. The previous five winners were all yellow, but Dave decides to go in another direction.
6. Ready to Run

The team fires the Ridler build for the first time, finishes an endless list of details and appointments, and loads the car for the trip to Detroit.
